The Formidable Lilly Singh

LOVE, PASSION & THE CRAZIEST THING A SUPERFAN HAS DONE

With A career that continues to skyrocket, Lilly Singh, aka IISuperwomanII, opens up to Must Be KISMET about what LOVE, PASSION and HAPPINESS mean to her.

MUST BE KISMET: 2016 has been a year full of #GirlLove, an initiative you have started to end girl-on-girl hate. #GirlLove is something you are very passionate about. What advice do you have to your superfans who want to spread #GirlLove?
LILLY SINGH: A lot of times when you hear people talk about the causes they’re passionate about, you feel as if the only way you can help is through money. Of course, there are countless ways to support women around the world through donations, however there are also numerous ways to spread #GirlLove everyday, for free and regardless of if you’re a male or female. #GirlLove is about building women up and encouraging them. Treating strangers like sisters, turning jealousy into compliments and choosing to support women rather than compete with them are all FREE ways to spread Girl Love. It’s everyone’s job.

MBK: On the topic of love, what feels like love to you?
LS: I am by no means an expert when it comes to love, but in my opinion, love feels like a natural upgrade. It’s an exciting feeling that doesn’t only feel right but it brings out the best in you.

MBK: Do you have a love interest right now?
LS: Yes, my career.

MBK: What are the most important qualities you look for in a partner?
LS: I don’t really have a list of qualities to look for in a partner because I’m hoping the right person will have qualities I didn’t even know existed.

MBK: Do you believe in love at first sight?
LS: I believe in infatuation at first sight, but not so much love at first sight. Love takes time, patience and nurture.

MBK: Do you want to marry within your culture/religion? Is that important to you?
LS: When it comes to marriage, what’s most important to me is: a) do I want to get married? and b) does this person make me happy? Everything else is just noise. If my partner is of the same culture, cool. If not, still cool. As long as I can jam out to Bhangra without interruption, I’m good.

MBK: How do you think your professional life would change if you get married/have children?
LS: I think inevitably it would change, which is a big reason why I’m not thinking of marriage right now. If/when I become a mother, I would want to be really good at it and that would be hard given the status of my current career. I travel way too much and have so much going on. When I feel comfortable enough to put that hustle on pause, then I will consider having children. Otherwise it just wouldn’t be fair to them.

MBK: South Asian weddings have turned into such elaborate affairs. What do you envision your dream wedding to be? Will it be big or small and intimate?

LS: To be completely honest, I’m not 100% sure I’m going to ever get married. I’m not for it or against it, I simply don’t want to pretend that I’m dreaming about it. I guess if I had to explain my dream hypothetical wedding, it would be with someone who makes me really happy. Other than that, I don’t care what the center pieces are.

MBK: How do you stay grounded and gorgeous on your travels around the world? What are your beauty secrets?
LS: I am laughing out loud reading this question. Literally. Thank you for thinking that! To be honest I don’t have any beauty secrets. I have three pimples as I type this, right now. If I had to give any advice for beauty and travel though, it would be to get as much sleep as possible, drink lots of water and above ALL ELSE, be happy. Happiness, and I mean true REAL happiness, is the best accessory you can wear.

MBK: Who is your biggest celebrity crush?
LS: Dwayne The Rock Johnson.

MBK: What is the craziest thing a superfan has done to show you love?
LS: Propose to me inside a McDonalds.
