We are all going through that phase now where we are stuck in limbo and not sure what to do. BUT, the great thing about being stuck in isolation is that it gives you time to work on the activities you wanted to do, but haven’t had the time to do – or won’t have the time to do as you get closer to your big day.
Here are a few things you can start working on to keep you in the zone and keep you busy:
1. DIY Your Stationary – Table Numbers & Cute Signage
Make a Pinterest account and let this tool become your best friend! One of the best ways to customize your wedding is adding small personal touches that represent you as a couple. Once you have your theme selected, start looking at what you can create to fit within.
Have a rustic chic theme? Spray paint old frames gold and attach some twigs to them!
Another great idea is to find quotes that bring you down memory lane, or the quotes that give you “the feels”. Print this out and put them in frames to place around your venue – receiving table, the bar, and cruiser tables. One of our favs is:
“Today I marry my best friend, the one I laugh with, dream with and love”.
2. Make a Creative Guest Book – Paint Something Your Guests Can Sign
The traditional guest book is something that will never get old, but if you’re looking for something different, what about creating puzzle pieces that your guests can sign? Another favourite is spray painting jenga pieces or adding a vinyl logo to each piece.
Do you have a favourite activity as a couple? If you are baseball or cricket fans, spray paint your bats with a clear, matte spray so that your guests can sign them. Or, if you are a lover of wine, spray paint some bottles with black chalkboard paint and let your guests leave a message for you!
3. Make Paper Cones for Flower Petals for Guests to Throw as You Say Your I Do’s!
Looking for a creative way to have your guests throw petals as you make your way down the aisle as husband and wife? Grab some doilies or artsy paper, roll them into a cone, and staple away! On the day of, have your planner or friend stuff these with petals to hand out to your guests.
4. Gather Photos for a Slideshow
A tedious activity to do, but a great way to take a stroll down memory lane. Start going through your old Facebook photos and hard drives and slowly throw your photos into a folder. Start this early so that by the time your wedding comes around, you won’t feel like you have to do it all in one night and miss something.
5. Start Writing Your Vows!
One of the hardest things to do is finding the perfect thing to say to your partner on your wedding day. Start by jotting down your thoughts and feelings from the first time you met them up until now. Think of memorable moments; how they make you feel when you are with them; how you’re the best version of you with them; and what you want to do in the future with them. Connect the pieces and you will slowly start to see everything come together.
