Veronica & Shaun – July 28 / 29

INSPIRATION

Our hearts were set on having an outdoor ceremony that merged elegance, simplicity and tradition. The lush green golf course provided the perfect backdrop for our classic Indian wedding in a serene setting. We wanted a personal sense of warmth and charm so we chose an ivory, champagne and gold palette for our decor to compliment the natural canvas at Angus Glen Golf Club. It was important for us to have timeless outfits that embodied regal charisma. Shaun wore a custom-designed brocade sherwani and Veronica wore a custom wedding ensemble that included a minimalist aesthetic, a traditional silhouette with contemporary detailing and a long, dramatic train.

SHE SAID

I remember being in the bridal suite and reminiscing about the day we got engaged. Shaun had planned an amazing 10-hour treasure hunt that started in Toronto and it was filled with clues, surprises and the most intricate details. He hired photographers and videographers who were on an undercover mission to capture all the precious moments that led to a incredible proposal in my hometown of Stratford, Ontario. A few days later, we went to Italy to celebrate our engagement. When we got back we decided to plan a big fat Indian wedding with all trimmings and multiple events in 5 weeks (yes weeks) because we wanted a summer celebration. My favourite part of the wedding was when I walked down the aisle with my parents and I saw Shaun at the mandap. Our eyes and smiles connected and I remember thinking I’m about to marry my favourite person and he truly knows how to make my heart smile. It was a pinch-me moment that I’ll never forget.

HE SAID

Celebrations started in the early hours of the morning and continued into the ceremony. It was amazing to see family and friends participate in one of the biggest events of our lives. Our entire day went off flawlessly, the weather started off cloudy and the sun came up as Veronica walked down the aisle – it was a beautiful moment. I also loved our fun honeymoon getaway to the Cayman Islands where we soaked up the sun and relaxed for days – it was perfect.

TIPS & ADVICE

Make a vow from the beginning that you’ll always be on the same team. This is a partnership so put each other first. Have a heart-to-heart with your partner, do what feels right for both of you and be true to yourself and your vision. Delegate as much as you can even if it stretches your trust at times. Respect and constant communication are instrumental. Make the effort to connect on a regular basis and plan fun date nights that don’t include technology and Netflix marathons. Don’t sweat the small stuff, enjoy the day and remember the reason you are there. The wedding is the opening act and marriage is the main event.
