Sabyasachi Mukherji Latest Bridal Wear Collection Summer Couture 2018

Sabyasachi's latest collection Le Club de Calcutta takes you back to Paris-Calcutta circa 1923 with metallics, sequins and more.
Telling stories has never been a problem for designer Sabyasachi Mukerjee. Through his chosen medium of Instagram, the couturier can paint richly nuanced worlds, where his masterful creations serve as conversation pieces to transcend you to another time. And his latest collection drop is no exception—Le Club de Calcutta takes you back to Paris-Calcutta circa 1923 with the unapologetic lustre of its sequin-clad society ladies.

For the summer, the designer’s vision includes silhouettes lovingly contoured with hand-mapped paillettes, designed to invoke a trail of silver dust in its wake. In keeping with the noire mood of his offering, the colour palette starts out from coffee and burnt gold to beaten silver and glamorous black georgette, before ending with the blush pink that Anushka Sharma championed at her secret wedding last year in Italy. For the Renaissance brides, he offers up a smoky nude embroidered veil that treads the fine line between traditional and contemporary with effortless ease.

Browse through the collection and you’ll find some familiar faces as well. The metallic sari that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had donned for an awards show in 2009 made a reappearance on Deepika Padukone in 2015, before appearing on Kim Kardashian West in our pages this month with a siren red update. The versatile number is reborn in this collection as an ‘ashes of rose’ beaten silver saree with hand-sewn sequins against a supple backdrop of chiffon that screams head-to-toe glamour.
