So your wedding day is just around the corner. You’ve taken care of the venue, the menu, the guests, the entourage, the wedding attire, and most of all the wedding bands. Now you only have to make sure that you’re ready for the day itself.
With so many things occupying your mind, some things can easily slip your mind, such as your phone, your keys, or your wallet. It may not completely ruin the wedding if you forget these things, but there will be some consequences if don’t bring these essentials.
The Suit
Your wedding day is not like your regular dates. It’s not even the same as your proposal. If there’s a time when you need to look your very best, it’s definitely on your wedding day. That’s why you cannot forget the suit.
Your wedding-day attire will not only set you apart from the x number of guests at your wedding. It will also make you much more dashing and give you the confidence boost to be the center of attention, together with your partner, throughout the event.
Gum or Mints
Maybe you had too much fun the night before the wedding and forgot to control your intake or maybe had some liquid courage to drown out the pre wedding nerves. You could also have unknowingly eaten a strong-smelling snack. Either way, you can’t have bad breath when you seal your wedding vows with a kiss.
There will be more kisses at the reception, so you can’t be complacent, especially after a full-course meal. Don’t subject your partner (and yourself) to garlic breath. Be ready with a few pieces of gum and mints to last until after the reception. Of course, this can’t completely substitute for the complete oral-hygiene routine.
Keys
Before you leave your house or your hotel, make sure that you put all the necessary keys in your suit pocket. You may have a lot in your mind (or none at all) before the wedding and forget to bring your keys.
That’s why you should ask your best man or anyone in your entourage who’s staying with you before the wedding to check with you. Better yet, give spare keys to your soon-to-be-spouse for added assurance.
After all, you can’t drive off into the sunset unless you have your keys with you. Also, it won’t be good spend your first night as a married couple locked out of your house or your hotel room. You can try out any of these ideas so you’ll remember to bring your keys.
Wallet
There’s not much need for payment during your own wedding (since you’ve probably paid for everything before the ceremony). However, it’s always good to be ready. What if you suddenly run out of gas on the way to the venue? You need your credit card or cash to get a refuel.
Having your credit card or some cash on hand isn’t the only reason to bring your wallet. You can keep your hotel card or keys inside to make sure you don’t lose them among other trinkets.
Phone
Your wedding is one of the most important events in your life. It’s understandable that you want to preserve its memory for as long as possible. Unfortunately, you need to wait way after the wedding to see the photos taken by the photographer you hired.
Bring your phone to take quick snaps or videos of priceless moments or take a selfie with your partner and the guys. You can even give live updates on social media for your family and friends who can’t make it to the wedding. Follow these wedding-photography tips to capture fantastic shots.
Smartphones aren’t only good for photos. In case you encounter heavy traffic on the way to the wedding, you can use your phone to look for alternative routes and notify your partner or the wedding planner with a call.
Gifts
If you haven’t given your gifts to your groomsmen during the rehearsal dinner, you can hand them out a couple of hours before the wedding. This is ideal if your gift is something that’s part of their wedding attire, like a bow, cuff links, a tie, or a tie bar. This way, they don’t forget to wear it on the day itself.
Giving individual gifts to your groomsmen will show how much effort you’ve put on them. Unfortunately, all the wedding preparations take up your time. Tried-and-tested presents will save the day. Consider getting the guys personalized hip flasks. They satisfy the need for both fun and functionality.
You can customize the flasks by engraving your buddies’ names, initials, or cartoon portraits on the surface. An empty hip flask won’t be much use on your wedding day. You may want to fill it with some booze for a pre wedding toast with the guys.
List Them Down
You’re only human. You can’t account for all circumstances that may happen at your wedding. The best thing you can do is to be as prepared as much possible. With that said, create a checklist containing all the essentials you need to bring at the wedding.
Make two copies, one for yourself and another for your best man, sibling, dad, or someone who’s going to be with you hours before the wedding. Using the checklist, have your family or friend check with you before you leave for the wedding.
This is one way you can prevent forgetting essential items on your wedding day. Alternatively, you can pack all these and store them in a small bag so you don’t have to rush to gather everything an hour before the wedding.
